It is important to start teaching and imbibing these good habits in kids early in their character formative age so when they grow old, they won’t depart from it.
Kids at a tender age can’t differentiate bad from good. They look up to their parents or older relatives for guidance and it’s up to you as a parent to guide them to the right path. 1. Wash Hands Always:
One of the easiest ways germs spread is through the hands and washing hands is the most effective way of removing germs from the hands. It doesn’t only protect you, it also stops you from spreading germs to people around you. Teach your kids the habit of washing hands regularly.
2. Eat Healthily
Encourage your kids to eat healthily by having fewer junk foods around the house, instead opt for more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and dairy products. Protein is also essential for their development, serve them, meat, fish, legumes, eggs, and nuts. Imbibing these good eating habits early helps prevent chronic diseases and obesity.
3. Cleaning up the Mess
Teach your kids how to arrange their toys, keep things in order, and take out the trash. They can start little by little according to their age group and go up from there. Learning how to keep their environment clean, saves them from a lot of troubles tomorrow.
4. Brush their Teeth and Bath Regularly
We all know the dangers of not brushing our teeth and having a regular bath. Aside from bad breath, teeth stains, and body odor. It can cause tooth decay and not showering can increase the likelihood of getting sick because the germs encountered during the day can enter one’s body. So force your kids to bathe and brush their teeth regularly and they will grow with it.
5. Exercise Daily
Exercise is good for kids. It aids their physical and mental development. These days kids don’t get enough exercise unlike before. The recess in school is short and they come home and don’t have the opportunity to jump around. Getting an hour of exercise a day helps keep them fit and agile.
6. Drink More Water and Less Soda
Keep less soda at home to discourage your kids from taking them and take more water instead. Most sodas contain excess sugar which is not good for the liver and is one of the major causes of diabetes. Drinking water does a lot of good for our bodies from flushing out waste in our body to regulating the temperature of the body and a lot more.
7. Learn to Say “Please”, “Thank-you”, and “Sorry”
You should educate your kids to show gratitude and appreciation when someone does something good to them and to also admit their mistakes by saying sorry when they wrong someone. You should also teach them how to say please. When we say please, people are more willing to fulfill and help our request of them.
8. Discrimination
Teach your kids not to discriminate against anyone irrespective of race, tribe, religion, physical ability, and sexual orientation. By teaching a kid that there’s only one human race and no race is superior to others, you are not only creating a good adult but you are also making the world a better place.
9. Sharing is Caring
Sharing teaches children about compromise and cooperation. It can help in making and developing better relationships with friends and those that come into their life. It makes them good team players which is a vital skill for survival in life.
10. Speak Out and be Unbiased
Teaching your kids how to speak out makes them good communicators and great leaders. It also creates boldness in them. Edify them also to be unbiased in their judgment irrespective of who is involved.
11. Honesty
Train your kids to say the truth at all times. Teach your kids not to give false compliments and always say the truth no matter how hard it seems. One good way to teach them is by being honest, not saying blatant lies, and cheating. The kids will learn honesty from you.
12 Money Management
Schools don’t teach money management skills though it is one of the very important habits kids need to learn to enable them to navigate this life. Teach your kids how to wait to buy something and don’t give them everything they ask for immediately. Educate them about choices when it comes to spending money. You mustn’t spend money because it’s there.
Also, train them on how to save money, you can get a piggy bank for them and encourage them to save money in them for an estimated period.
13 Healthy and Positive Mindset
Give your kids brainstorming tasks. It helps develop their brains and their capabilities. Tell them they are capable of achieving whatever they want if they believe in themselves. Celebrating and encouraging their little wins boosts their confidence and belief in achieving much more.
14 Computer Skills
In 2023 when almost everything has gone digital, it is an aberration not to have computer skills. Teach your kids computer skills or enroll them where they can learn computer skills. Your kid might turn out to be the next Bill Gates.
15 Help Develop Their Talent
The mistake most Parents do is forcing their kids to be who they are not. Allow them to try so many things early in life and look out for where their passion lies. Help and encourage them to develop their talents and passions.
16 Read and Learn New Things Everyday
Hearten your kids to read and learn new things every day. There are millions of new things to learn every day on the internet or in the library. Encourage them to learn new skills or new languages. It will help them get through this life.
17. Work Hard/Smart
Teach your kids how to work hard and also work smart. Working smart is not about cutting corners or looking for an easy way out it means figuring out what your strengths are and building a network around you to build upon those to reach goals most quickly and efficiently possible. Teach your kids how to work hard.
